Michael Portman’s book on Generalized Anxiety Disorder will be helpful to clinicians and researchers alike. In a concise but comprehensive book, he reviews the major theories of generalized anxiety, covers the relevant research, and describes the central clinical strategies and interventions for treating this chronic and often debilitating condition. The writing is clear and the review is up to date. If you are interested in GAD you should read this book.

It is encouraging to see Michael Portman’s book on generalized anxiety disorder. Culling the most recent findings on the disorder, he provides a balanced and comprehensive review of the state of research on this condition. The style of writing in the book is both approachable and informative. Lay and professional readers alike would benefit from this timely contribution to the literature.
